U.S. Deptartment of Energy undersecretary joins UT Energy Institute

Raymond Lee Orbach, the U.S. Department of Energy’s first undersecretary for science, has been appointed director of the Energy Institute, a multi-disciplinary organization created to advance solutions to energy-related challenges. Orbach, whose appointment begins Aug. 1, will have joint appointments as a professor with tenure in the Cockrell School of Engineering’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Natural Sciences’ Department of Physics and the Jackson School of Geosciences.
