The agonizing message to a young Christian couple in love: Sex can wait, but so can marriage. The conversation is spreading from a relatively small number of churches and ministries, to the broader evangelical community. University of Texas at Austin sociologist Mark Regnerus, author of “The Case for Young Marriage,” argues that evangelicals “have made much ado about sex” but are damaging the institution of marriage by discouraging and delaying it. Regnerus suggest that abstinence has its limits, and that intensifying the message won’t work.
