Powers to Give State of the University Address at The University of Texas at Austin Sept. 16

William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will deliver his fourth President’s State of the University Address at 4 p.m. on Sept. 16, providing a report on ongoing and new initiatives of the university’s administration.

William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will deliver his fourth President’s State of the University Address at 4 p.m. on Sept. 16, providing a report on ongoing and new initiatives of the university’s administration.

The program, which is open to the public, will be in the B. Iden Payne Theatre of the F. Loren Winship Drama Building near the bus turn-around at the corner of San Jacinto and 23rd streets.

The president’s report also will be broadcast live Sept. 16 on the Web and on campus cable channels 25 and 45. The live streaming for the program will begin at 3:55 p.m. RealPlayer (free download) is needed to view the live webcast.

Powers is the 28th president of The University of Texas at Austin. Before taking office on Feb. 1, 2006, he was dean of the university’s School of Law, where he won recognition for recruiting a world-class faculty and attracting highly diverse and talented students. He delivered his inaugural address on the state of the university on Sept. 19, 2006.
