University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy Faculty Member Elected President-Elect of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists

Diane Ginsburg, assistant dean and clinical professor of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, has been elected president-elect of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). She becomes president of the organization in June 2010.

Diane Ginsburg, assistant dean and clinical professor of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, has been elected president-elect of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). She becomes president of the organization in June 2010.

Ginsburg specializes in ethics and the legal and regulatory aspects of pharmacy and healthcare.

As assistant dean for student affairs, she oversees student participation in student professional organizations. She also is regional director for the college’s statewide internship program.

She is past president of Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

“ASHP has been a leader in helping pharmacists provide the highest level of patient care, and it is truly an honor to serve this prestigious organization,” Ginsburg said. “In ASHP, the patient always comes first. I am proud to represent an organization whose mission is to help patients make the best use out of their medications.”

ASHP is a 35,000-member national professional association that represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, long-term care facilities, home care and other components of health care systems. Its main office is in Bethesda, Md.
