Across campus on the day before fall classes begin, professors and freshmen gather at the Freshman Reading Round-Up to talk about books they have read over the summer. Professor David Laude, a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, leads his class in discussion of Paul Roberts’ book, “The End of Oil.”
