Event: The Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies (LLILAS) at The University of Texas at Austin presents a three-day conference “Migration during an Era of Restriction.”

Background: Through panel presentations and roundtable discussions, scholars and legal experts from the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Mexico and Peru will discuss immigration policy issues and present research findings on migration developments in Europe and the United States.
Presenters will examine a wide range of topics, including changing immigration policies, ethnic tensions, border control, deportations, remittances, return migration, legal and human rights issues affecting migrants, impacts of removals in sending countries and the prospects for continuing high emigration rates.
Graduate students will present their papers on migrant restrictions during the social event on Nov. 4. The conference’s main sessions will take place Nov. 5-6.
