Preserving German heritage in Texas

Hans Boas, associate professor of Germanic studies, works to preserve Texas German, a rapidly eroding dialect intrinsic to Texas. Traveling to small towns throughout Texas, Boas conducts interview with the last remaining speakers of Texas German. The recordings, transcriptions and translations are archived in Boas’ Texas German Dialect Archive.
