Last year, students around campus celebrated Earth Day by planting trees and educating the university community about eco-friendly practices. This year, organizations are making the same effort in celebration of Earth Day.
Earth Day events from the Know Calendar:
- The Campus Environmental Center is hosting “cUT the Carbon,” an event promoting a carbon-neutral campus. From 6:30-10 p.m. there will be live music, educational speakers and a light show on the Main Mall. Read more about “cUT the Carbon” in the Know Events Calendar.
- The Center for Sustainable Development is hosting a screening of the PBS documentary “Earth Days” as part of it’s Sustainable Development Film Series from 7-9 p.m. Following the screening there will be a brief discussion about how environmental awareness has changed the world. - The Campus Environmental Center is hosting a Green Business Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on the McCombs School of Business patio. Read more about the business fair online.
Visit the Office of Sustainability’s new Web site to learn what it is doing to expand the university’s sustainability efforts. The Web site features news and information on carbon and climate action planning, the President’s Sustainability Steering Committee and how to start a Green Team in your department.
