The Tower at The University of Texas at Austin will shine orange tonight (May 11) in recognition of the men’s tennis team’s Big 12 regular season and tournament championships.
The No. 3 Longhorns won their sixth Big 12 regular season title outright on April 25 when they finished an undefeated conference season with a 5-2 victory over the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in Lincoln, Neb. The team then secured its fourth Big 12 postseason tournament title on May 2 when it outlasted 10th-ranked Texas AandM University by a 4-3 count in Austin, Texas.
The Longhorns host NCAA first- and second-round matches beginning Friday, May 14 in Austin. The Texas team will take on The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in the first round on Friday. The Texas-UTSA winner will take on Friday’s Arizona-Minnesota winner on Saturday for the right to advance to the NCAA round of 16 in Athens, Ga.
