Exactly 125 years ago — to the day — the Texas Exes formally established itself as the alumni association of The University of Texas at Austin. In celebration of its anniversary, the Texas Exes and the UT Heritage Society unveiled UT History Central, a Web site showcasing the history and traditions of the university.
The new site offers memories and gems, including recordings of yells from 1890-1910 that have not been heard on campus for more than 80 years, as well as unique trivia, anecdotes and little-known stories. Visitors may also enjoy songs from the 1940s that have been digitized, along with “The Cactus in Sound,” an effort that captured audio clips of life at the university during the 1951-52 academic year.
The site has been divided into three sections — explore, experience and celebrate — all of which include audio, visuals and video.
