Background: While we were paying attention to “old computers” with the Y2K challenge at the end of 1999, another major change was happening: society crossed over to having more older people than younger people for the first time in history. In 2010, the first “baby boomers” become eligible for retirement and Social Security. Dishman proposes that healthcare needs to move from the hospital and clinician to the home and consumer. A wide array of telehealth, e-care and aging-in-place technologies can help us do that.
