Event: The Rachofsky House hosts a reception to celebrate an exhibition of work from The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture‘s Dallas Urban Laboratory. The lab is a research initiative of the graduate program in urban design investigating issues in landscape and urbanism that affect the development future of the City of Dallas.

Background: As Dallas evolves over the next few decades, the role of the Dallas Urban Laboratory is to contribute to the debate on shaping the growth of the city and the metropolis in a more sustainable way.
The lab specializes in the simulation of future development scenarios while working toward an agenda of urban sustainability. Each year the faculty and students undertake an applied urban design research project in conjunction with Dallas stakeholders, professionals and city officials in order to envision the latent potential for urban sites.
Previous projects include the western Trinity River Corridor, West Dallas Gateway and the Dallas Highline.
The exhibit runs from Aug. 30-Sept. 18.
