Chevron, through its University Partnership Program, has contributed $793,100 to support academic programs at The University of Texas at Austin for the 2010-11 academic year.
The amount brings the company’s total gifts to the university to more than $41 million. The company also has provided more than $16.5 million in additional research funding.
Chevron’s 2010-11 philanthropic support of the university is focused on the Cockrell School of Engineering, Jackson School of Geosciences and McCombs School of Business.
“Chevron highly values our longstanding partnership with UT, the exceptional quality of education and research, and the talented students and alumni who work with us,” Chevron President Melody Meyer said. “We are very pleased to support key programs and students in the Cockrell, Jackson and McCombs schools.”
The largest component of the gift is a nearly $300,000 allocation to the Cockrell School in support of initiatives ranging from student scholarships and service organizations to laboratory renovations. The Jackson School received $235,000 to support students in earth sciences, while the McCombs School received $52,000 for fellowships and activities related to its Master of Business Administration programs.
