Event: “Losing Faith” is an exhibition of recent work by TJ Hunt, a studio art senior, and Landon O’Brien, a studio art alumnus, investigating artistic identity through re-contextualization. It will be on exhibit at the Visual Arts Center in the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Austin Oct. 29-Nov. 13.

The exhibition examines what it means to self-identify as an artist in the pluralistic artistic climate, and question notions of originality and cultural value in a social economy that has largely lost confidence in the power of art as a vehicle to promote a message or enact change. The works question the sustainability of their own practice, even as their existence attests to the enduring nature of the creative process.

When: Oct. 29-Nov. 13

Opening reception: Friday, Oct. 29, 6-9 p.m.

Where: The Visual Arts Center, Department of Art and Art History, the corner of 23rd and Trinity Street.
