Event: The Society for Historical Archeology presents “Crossroads in Texas History,” a public archeology exposition featuring educational resources from Texas Beyond History, a part of the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory at The University of Texas at Austin.
When: 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8.
Where: Hilton Austin, 500 E. Fourth St. Parking is available in City Lot on Red River and Fourth streets.

Background: At “Crossroads in Texas History” guests are invited to follow the trail of Texas history through an array of activities, including digging in a mock site, making corn husk dolls and watching re-enactors portray different eras in Texas history.
From plantations to shipwrecks to Civil War camps, participants will learn about the rich history of Texas that can be found from clues left behind by Indians, the Spanish, the French and more.
Exhibitors will also offer opportunities to participate in local archeological projects. Teachers will receive a CD with data sheets and lessons based on the exhibits.

Texas Beyond History is a virtual museum of online exhibits, lessons and interactive learning that covers 13,500 years of human history in Texas. The online galleries include amazing artifacts, interactive graphics, more than 6,000 images and reconstructed scenes of the past.
