House Speaker Joe Straus to speak with University of Texas at Austin Students

Event: Texas House of Representatives Speaker Joe Straus will appear on The University of Texas at Austin campus as part of the Texas Politics Speaker Series sponsored by the Texas Politics Project.

Event: Texas House of Representatives Speaker Joe Straus will appear on The University of Texas at Austin campus as part of the Texas Politics Speaker Series sponsored by the Texas Politics Project.

Scheduled to speak soon after the House votes on a 2012-13 state budget bill, Straus will take questions about state spending and the other key issues of this legislative session. The discussion will be led by James Henson, lecturer in the Government Department and director of the Texas Politics Project.

Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

When: Tuesday, April 5, 3:30 p.m.

Background: The Texas Politics Project is affiliated with the Department of Government in the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin. The project supports state-mandated university instruction in the workings of Texas government and helps Texans become more thoughtful and effective participants in their government.
