Tony Award-Winning Designer Lecture and Theatrical Design and Technology Showcase, May 3

Event: The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance will host a public lecture by alumnus and Tony Award-winning designer Kevin Adams on May 3.

Event: The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance will host a public lecture by alumnus and Tony Award-winning designer Kevin Adams on May 3. The lecture will be presented in conjunction with the department’s annual Theatrical Design and Technology Showcase, a retrospective exhibition of student work in costume, lighting, sound, scenic design, costume technology and theatrical design.

Tickets: Admission is free and open to the public.

Background: Kevin Adams’ lighting design work for “Spring Awakening” won him a Tony Award in 2007. Adams picked up a second Tony Award in 2008 for “The 39 Steps” and a third in 2010 for his lighting of the Green Day musical “American Idiot.” Adams holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in theatrical design from The University of Texas at Austin.

The Theatrical Design and Technology Showcase celebrates the work of 38 emerging artists at the university. This year’s showcase includes a 20-foot Rube Goldberg machine, three-dimensional modeling techniques and millinery work.
