Dell, University of Texas at Austin To Make Major Financial Announcement Monday, May 16

Event: William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will join Dell officials for an important financial announcement.

Event: William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, will join Dell officials for an important financial announcement. The announcement will precede the awards ceremony in the Dell Social Innovation Competition hosted by Dell and the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service at the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin. The competition asks students from around the world to think of a way to solve a major social problem. Winners, announced at the final event, are given seed money to make their ideas a reality.

Additional interview opportunities: The five student finalists in the Dell Social Innovation Competition, representing universities and colleges from the United States, Kenya and India, will also be available for comment between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., the start of the awards ceremony. Judges of the competition will also be available for a limited time prior to the start of the event. More on the finalists.

B-roll opportunities: Prior to the press announcement, Dell will host the “Innovation Marketplace” a showcase of local nonprofit and for-profit organizations focused on social entrepreneurship offering opportunities for college students to intern or volunteer. Important announcement will begin at 5:45 p.m. The final event will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Innovation Marketplace takes place 4 to 6 p.m.
