New fossil primate found in West Texas

Take a closer look at a previously unknown species of fossil primate and a collection of images from the site where the fossil was found.

Physical anthropologist Chris Kirk, an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology, recently announced the discovery of a previously unknown species of fossil primate, Mescalerolemur horneri, found in the badlands of West Texas.

Take a closer look at the jaw of the Mescalerolemur, which lived during the Eocene Epoch about 43 million years ago, and a collection of images from the site where the Mescalerolemur was found.
