The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing in conjunction with the East Travis Gateway Library District will be hosting the second annual Longhorn Health Fair. This free event is open to the public and designed to promote and improve community health by providing health screenings and information on local health services and resources.

Who: Public health nursing students from the School of Nursing will provide the following free screenings to health fair attendees: blood glucose, blood cholesterol, blood pressure, body mass index, vision and hearing.

What: Two sessions of the health fair will provide hands-on health screenings and services; information and resources on health promotion, disease prevention and disaster preparedness as well as tips for healthy living.

When: 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 6.

Where: The first session will be held at the Haynie Chapel United Methodist Church in Garfield (behind the Hit the Spot Café inside the Garfield Library). The second session will be held at the Elroy Library on FM Highway 812. Parking is available in both church and library parking lots.

Why: The School of Nursing is dedicated to providing free or low-cost health services to eligible residents of Travis County. Each year our students help to staff clinics in East Austin and Del Valle to ensure that residents and any members of an underserved population receive up-to-date health screenings, health promotion and disease prevention information and services.

Bonus: Free health screenings, information and brochures on a variety of health issues
