Best-Selling Author, Director and Producer to Speak about the Intersection of Technology and Physical Education

Background: When it comes to helping children live the healthiest, happiest, most prosperous lives possible, one of the best ways to motivate and capture their imaginations is in school. In this talk, Ohlson will share how she created the ultimate science project for students using the best wireless connection in the world his or her own body in motion. The “Spirit System” builds a comprehensive, day-by-day profile of student health information and correlates it back to academic and attendance success.

Ohlson recently wrote and directed her first feature film, “Health Needs a Hero,” an educational documentary that details the epidemic of childhood health issues. Ohlson is also the author of the national award-winning coffee table book, “Every Town Needs a Trail,” which celebrates the lore and heritage of Austin’s Town Lake hike-and-bike trail.
