Event: Inventor Award Ceremony and Reception, recognizing University of Texas at Austin faculty members who have developed world-changing inventions.

Background: The University of Texas at Austin will recognize two researchers whose work is changing the way a major high-technology industry makes its products. They were co-founders of an Austin-based company that makes products based on their technology. They also have received awards on the international, national and state levels.
The identity of the 2012 Inventors of the Year will be revealed at the awards reception, organized by the university’s Office of Technology Commercialization. Faculty members and staffers who received patents during the year also will be recognized. University researchers were granted 80 patents during the year.
The university received $20.3 million in licensing revenue in 2011-2012.
The event brings together the university’s innovative technology community with Austin’s entrepreneurial community at the Capital Factory, a startup accelerator founded by Josh Baer, an entrepreneur and mentor to startup companies, and the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
