On May 7, the university will honor five professors and two alumni who have been inducted into three national academies. In their honor, the university Tower will shine orange.
Professors Joseph J. Beaman Jr., Sharon L. Wood and Keith P. Johnston were elected Feb. 7 into the National Academy of Engineering. Alumni Rex W. Tillerson, BS ’75, and Gregory Deierlein, Ph.D. ’88, also joined the academy this year.
John Goodenough, mechanical engineering professor, was elected to the National Academy of Sciences.
The Institute of Medicine has made Professor George Georgiou a member.
