At the annual Mooov-In event, The University of Texas at Austin will welcome approximately 7,500 students from all 50 states, more than 35 countries and every continent (except Antarctica). More than 500 faculty members, staffers and students will be on hand as volunteers to welcome the newest generation of Longhorns to the Forty Acres, marking the 20th anniversary of the event.

WHEN: Friday, Aug. 23, 910 a.m.

WHERE: UFCU Disch-Falk Field at 1300 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Excellent visual and interview opportunities with UT Austin students, parents and officials.

BACKGROUND: Mooov-In is sponsored by Housing and Food Service, part of the Division of Student Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.

Former President Robert Berdahl began Mooov-In in the fall of 1993 to help build the campus community. We continue that tradition today, mindful of the fact that a smooth transition to college prepares students to start learning on Day One and get well on their paths to graduating in four years.

One highlight this year will be the return of “Bevo Is Not a Cow,” the innovative freshman success guide waiting for incoming students in their rooms. It includes insider advice from current students and alumni on topics such as how to study, where to eat and how to get involved outside of the classroom.

Vice President for Student Affairs Gage Paine and Dean of Students Soncia Reagins-Lilly will be on hand to answer questions from the media. Afterward, media are invited to the newly renovated Jester East Residence Hall for additional video footage.

For more information, a full list of participating organizations and a schedule of activities, visit Housing and Food Service.
