AUSTIN, Texas President Bill Powers will welcome Steve Patterson, recently named men’s athletic director, to The University of Texas at Austin community during a news conference on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.

BACKGROUND: Steve Patterson, a Longhorn alumnus, returns to campus to serve as men’s athletic director. Patterson will replace DeLoss Dodds, who is retiring after 32 years. He will become the 10th men’s athletic director in the history of The University of Texas at Austin Athletics.
Patterson earned both a bachelor’s degree in business (1980) and a law degree (1984) from UT Austin. The appointment is subject to approval from the UT System Board of Regents, which is scheduled to meet Nov. 13 and 14.
