The following is a statement from University of Texas at Austin President Bill Powers regarding the recent report from the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault:

The report from the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault outlines a number of critical guidelines for American universities. As the president of The University of Texas at Austin, I recognize that many universities are pro-active in implementing some of the best practices outlined in the White House report, but much work remains to be done. Reducing sexual assault must be a national priority for our universities and communities. I applaud the White House support on this issue and look forward to the bi-partisan attention that will help us create safer university campuses for our students.
