AUSTIN, Texas — Coy Wilcox has been named director for the Petroleum Extension (PETEX™), a component of the Texas Extended Campus at The University of Texas at Austin. In this position, Wilcox oversees all operations and activities of PETEX, which trains oil and gas industry workers. Wilcox’s role encompasses oversight of the Austin headquarters location and PETEX’s state-of-the-art Learning and Assessment Center in Houston. Wilcox began his appointment Sept. 14, 2015.

“I am thrilled to welcome Coy Wilcox to our UT Extended Campus,” said Deputy Director Stephen Walls. “His vast experience with leading the creation of business-critical training programs and developing new business opportunities at the international level makes him an exciting addition to our leadership and to PETEX.”

“I’m very excited by the opportunity to lead PETEX,” said Wilcox. “Having worked in a variety of roles in the oil and gas industry, I am fully aware of PETEX’s sterling reputation as a leader in oil and gas industry training. I hope to add my own experience in new business development and operations management to help PETEX scale even greater heights.”

Before coming to PETEX, Wilcox served as the training, learning and development manager for Nabors Drilling in the Middle East. He has experience in instructional development, training management, and marketing and business development within the petroleum industry. In addition to a two-year stint at Intertek Consulting and Training, Wilcox spent about seven years with Nabors Drilling overseas in various training management roles.

Prior to Nabors, Wilcox was a SERE Specialist with the Royal Saudi Air Force in Saudi Arabia and in the U.S. Air Force during his military service from 1990 to 1995. Wilcox is a graduate of Upper Iowa University and holds a B.S. in business administration and technology and information management.
