Students have spotted Distinguished Alumnus Matthew McConaughey cheering for the Longhorns, motivating student-athletes and even teaching a filmmaking course in the Moody College of Communication.
And last night, some Longhorns got a ride home from the Oscar-winning actor:

As part of SURE Walk, McConaughey, BS ’93, volunteered to help students make it home safely from campus after dark.
SURE Walk, or Students United for Rape Elimination, offers members of the UT Austin community volunteer companionship while walking home from campus. Earlier this month, SURE Walk expanded its services from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day of the week.
Student Government, which serves as the official voice of the student body, partnered with Parking and Transportation Services and created SURE Walk “in order to protect the students, provide peace-of-mind when studying late at night and ensure safety for all.”
In order to request a walk or ride home, call 512-232-WALK (9255) or email orderasurewalk@gmail.com, and SURE Walk representatives located at Jester will accompany you on your way home. Follow SURE Walk on Twitter and Facebook for more information.
