The Tower will shine orange on Saturday, April 8, as part of the annual Honors Day, which celebrates the university’s highest achieving students.

Introduced in 1948, Honors Day commemorates the accomplishments of students who have earned the designation College Scholar or Distinguished College Scholar. This celebratory, traditional ceremony serves not only as a prelude to Commencement to honor student achievement, but as a way to acknowledge the role that faculty play in student success.

“The ceremony reflects the inspiration, talent and sustained collaborative effort that lie at the heart of undergraduate education at a great university.”

– President Gregory L. Fenves.

During Honors Day celebrations, ceremonial elements will include an academic procession, orange and white honors cords worn by students, heraldic banners, inspirational messages and celebratory music.
