UT Austin Commencement Still Planned for Saturday, With Weather Backup Sunday

The university-wide commencement is planned for Saturday but will switch to Sunday, same time, if weather is dangerous.

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas at Austin plans to hold its outdoor, university-wide commencement on Saturday, May 20 on the Main Mall, south of the UT Tower, as scheduled but has a backup plan to hold the event Sunday, May 21 in the event weather poses a danger.
 
If commencement is rescheduled for Sunday, all activities will start one hour earlier than originally planned, weather permitting.​
 
If the university needs to reschedule due to weather danger, it will announce the decision Saturday.
 
Indoor convocation ceremonies for the university’s colleges and schools will continue as planned.

Schedule updates will be posted at the UT Austin commencement website, the UT Austin homepage and university social media accounts, and shared with local media.
