“Hot Science – Cool Talks,” a nationally recognized outreach series from The University of Texas at Austin to engage the public in STEM topics, will celebrate its 100th event by exploring the secret lives of dinosaurs.

WHO MAY ATTEND: Event is sold out but public can watch online at http://aisdtv.blogspot.com/p/celebrate-hot-science-cool-talks-100.html. More than 1,000 guests are expected.
BACKGROUND: The Environmental Science Institute (ESI) at The University of Texas at Austin began offering the immersive education experiences in 1999 and presents the talks six times a year. Photo and video opportunities include:
5:30-6:30 p.m.:
- Children interacting with Manny the T-Rex at the ATX Dino booth
- Fun With Chemistry and Science in the Movies demonstrations on the outdoor plaza
- Robots, 3-D printers and stations to learn about fossils, ancient rocks, research on Mars and spider monkeys
- Interviews in English and Spanish with ESI scientists and presenters
7-8:30 p.m.:
- Audience participation with featured speaker and paleontologist Julia Clarke, a UT Austin associate professor
- Manny the T-Rex’s appearance on stage around 7:30 p.m.
- Guests singing “Happy Birthday” to the program along with cake
PARKING: Parking garage is located on north side of the center. Broadcast trucks can park in loading dock or along the private drive between Barbara Jordan Boulevard and 51st Street.
