The year 1969 brought a tumultuous decade in American history to a close, capturing a place in our collective memory and, for those of us who weren’t there, in our imaginations. But for Longhorns, 1969 saw the “Game of the Century” and the making of a football legend.

Nearly 1,000 Texas high school students will receive scholarships worth $20,000 over four years through Texas Advance, a year-old UT Austin initiative aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged students across the state who are at the top of their class.

University of Texas at Austin mascot BEVO XIV, recently diagnosed with Bovine Leukemia Virus, passed away in his sleep on Oct. 16.

Beloved University of Texas mascot BEVO XIV, whose given name is Sunrise Studly, has been diagnosed with Bovine Leukemia Virus and, following a triumph in the AT&T Red River Showdown, is being retired effective immediately.

Professor of Astronomy Daniel Jaffe has been appointed vice president for research at UT Austin. 

UT Austin was named a winner of the inaugural 2015 Active Minds Healthy Campus Award, which recognizes the university as one of the healthiest campuses in the nation.
