After 37 years of service to The University of Texas at Austin, Jeanne D. Carpenter will retire as University Health Services director and associate vice president for student affairs effective Sept. 1.

Carpenter has served in a number of capacities at University Health Services since 1974 and has been director since 1997. In 2007 she was also named associate vice president for student affairs. She earned her master’s degree in Health Professions in 1980 from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University/San Marcos).

Dr. Juan C. González, vice president for student affairs, said Carpenter’s experience and leadership were keys to the success of University Health Services, the Counseling and Mental Health Center, the Sanger Learning and Career Center, and the entire Division of Student Affairs.

“These nationally recognized programs exemplify the quality of leadership that Jeanne has provided to the Division of Student Affairs and the University during her many years of service,” González said. “I am personally grateful for her professionalism, her dedication, and her thoughtfulness as both a colleague and a friend. She will truly be missed.”
