WHERE: J.J. Pickle Research Campus, 10100 Burnet Road, Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) Building 196, ROC Seminar Room. Please park in the back of the building and use the east entrance. The ROC Seminar Room will be on your right as you enter the building.

BACKGROUND: A major new grant for The University of Texas at Austin will result in a new technology endeavor to advance open science and engineering research. Jay Boisseau, director of TACC, and Irene Qualters, program director, NSF Office of Cyberinfrastructure, will join William Powers Jr., president of The University of Texas at Austin, to present details of the announcement at the news conference. Leading scientists will be on hand to talk about how this announcement will impact their work. Representatives from Dell and Intel will also be available.
