Background: UT Elementary School, a public charter school with a mission to share research-based best practices in urban education, is dedicated to sharing best practices that promote health and wellness among all Austin school children. The keynote speaker, Marissa Duswalt, works with the national Let’s Move program, which strives to reverse childhood obesity within a generation.

Duswalt’s address will be followed by roundtable discussions led by local experts in public health, fitness, nutrition and education to address the question, “What can educators, researchers, policymakers and the community do to support the health and wellness of young children, producing optimal outcomes for their well being and academic success?”
