President Powers to Deliver State of the University Address Sept. 27 at The University of Texas at Austin

Bill Powers, president of The University of Texas at Austin, will deliver his seventh State of the University Address, presenting a public assessment on the progress of the institution. It will include a report on ongoing and new initiatives of the university’s administration. The event is open to the public.

WHEN: 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27.

WHERE: The B. Iden Payne Theatre of the F. Loren Winship Drama Building near the circle drive at the corner of San Jacinto Boulevard and 23rd Street.

·       The President’s State of the University Address will be broadcast live starting at 3:45 p.m. on the Web and on campus cable channels 11 and 13 on Sept. 27.

BACKGROUND: Powers is the 28th president of The University of Texas at Austin. Before taking office on Feb. 1, 2006, he was dean of the university’s School of Law, where he won recognition for recruiting a world-class faculty and attracting highly diverse and talented students. He delivered his inaugural address on the state of the university on Sept. 19, 2006.
