The University of Texas at Austin sends nearly 2400 students to study in nearly 80 countries through more than 650 programs each year. This commitment to international education, is reflected in a No. 5 ranking in the nation for study abroad participation, according to the Institute of International Education’s annual report released at the end of 2012.

And it’s not just students traveling away from Austin. The university also has one of the most diverse international student populations in the country, with more than 120 countries represented in the student body. The University of Texas at Austin ranks No. 20 in international student enrollment, with 5,324 international students enrolled during the 2011-2012 academic year.  What’s more, the university ranks No. 17 with 1,613 visiting scholars and researchers on campus.

Additionally, the Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program, recently announced the complete list of colleges and universities that produced the most 2012-2013 U.S. Fulbright Students. The University of Texas at Austin ranked No. 6 for the number Fulbright awards won per institution with 22 students receiving the prestigious award.
