E. Anthony “Tony” Wayne, the United States ambassador to Mexico, will speak at The University of Texas at Austin on Thursday, June 13. Wayne will address economic ties between the U.S. and Mexico at the TechBA Expo, an annual display of companies in the business accelerator sponsored by UT Austin and Mexico.

Background: The TechBA-Austin program is operated by the Global Commercialization Group of the IC2 Institute at UT Austin and the Mexican-United States Foundation for Science. It brings executives of young Mexican businesses to Austin and provides them with business development expertise, office space and support to help find new customers in the United States and abroad.
At the exposition, the Mexico-based companies will display products and services in areas such as information technology, mobile apps, online education, cloud computing, digital media, video games, solar energy, cool roofs and interior design.
As part of his visit to TechBA and The University of Texas at Austin, Wayne will check in on the final stage of the startup boot camp for Mexican entrepreneurs that began in March. The boot camp is aimed at promoting increased economic integration between Mexico and the United States.
Wayne has been the U.S. ambassador to Mexico since August 2011. He has served in a number of diplomatic posts since joining the foreign service in 1975. His previous posting was as deputy ambassador in Kabul, Afghanistan.
