Explore the globe through photos taken by students and staff of UT’s International Office
In the Institute of International Education’s 2013 Open Doors Report, The University of Texas at Austin landed the No. 2 spot in the nation for the number of students pursuing international study UT’s highest ranking since 2001. The university also made the top 25 for international student enrollment, with 5,481 students coming to the Forty Acres from China, Korea, India, Mexico and Taiwan, among others.
UT is #2 in the nation for the number of students studying abroad.
This year is shaping up to be equally, if not more, exciting for the office, which is home to Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services, English as a Second Language, and more. In February, the university’s First Abroad Initiative brought home a prestigious Simon Spotlight Award for its efforts to remove barriers that prevent first-generation college students from studying abroad.
The university also had the honor of hosting a Fulbright Visiting Scholars Enrichment Seminar on social entrepreneurship this week and will partner with the White House Administration this summer to bring emerging entrepreneurs from Sub-Saharan Africa to the Forty Acres through the Young African Leaders Initiative.
