EVENT: Elements, The University of Texas at Austin student fashion show, featuring designs from 22 senior students in the University Fashion Group, includes a special collection of sports after-wear modeled by UT Austin athletic luminaries Edith Royal, A.J. Abrams and Quan Cosby, among others. Industry professionals Carla McDonald, Sergio Guadarrama, Lance Avery Morgan, Linda Asaf and Carmel Fenves will award a number of prizes.

BACKGROUND: Nearly 5,000 people are expected to attend the nation’s largest student-run fashion show at The University of Texas at Austin. Elements: The UT Fashion Show, which is free and open to the public, will include 120 original runway designs that showcase a range of student innovations such as gender-neutral design, digital prints, programmable lights and performance fabric. A new component this year is a collection of after-sport wear designed for and modeled by familiar UT Austin athletes and friends of the athletics program: Mike Perrin, UT Austin men’s athletics director, will escort Edith Royal, widow of Coach Darrell K Royal, down the runway to open this segment. Sponsored by University Co-operative Society, Lexus of Austin, the Austin American-Statesman, Cotton Incorporated, Russell Korman Fine Jewelry, and Independence Title. Elements prizes will be awarded in categories such as most innovative fashion collection, most marketable fashion collection, best technical collection, best evening gown, best bridal gown and best overall collection of 2016.
