BACKGROUND: “A Conversation with Kevin Durant” will touch on topics including leadership and what it’s like to be a high-profile athlete in today’s changing landscape of professional athletics.

“At a time when national headlines remain focused on athletes’ behavior and responsibilities, the need has never been greater for college and professional athletes to serve as leaders and role models,” said Roberts.

A former player for The University of Texas at Austin, Durant has won numerous accolades during his career, including an NBA Most Valuable Player Award, four NBA scoring titles, the NBA Rookie of the Year Award and two Olympic gold medals. In addition to being one of the most successful and popular players in the league, Durant has become known off the court for his leadership and philanthropy.

The Center for Sports Leadership & Innovation was founded in 2014 with the mission to foster a culture of character and promote leadership values in athletics. Roberts leads the center’s efforts to help athletes succeed on and off the field through a variety of programming that leverages the university’s resources and reputation as a premier institution in athletics and academics. Roberts spent seven years as an NFL and college football coach after graduating from Harvard Law School, and he teaches courses related to sports leadership and management strategy.
