MEDIA ADVISORY: Microsoft CEO to Speak on UT Campus about Leadership and Technology

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will discuss leadership and the ways technology is transforming society.

WHAT: The ways technology is transforming society will be the topic of discussion when Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella comes to The University of Texas at Austin to sit down with professor Bob Metcalfe.

WHEN: Monday, Nov. 13, noon  to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Hogg Memorial Auditorium, 2300 Whitis Ave., Austin, TX 78705

WHO MAY ATTEND: The event is open to UT students, faculty members and staff members on a first-come, first-served basis.

MEDIA: Media are invited to attend and there will be reserved seating for media. Due to time constraints, Nadella will not be available for media interviews. A livestream will be available via Facebook Live on theSkimm’s website.

BACKGROUND: Satya Nadella became CEO of Microsoft in 2014. He is currently promoting his new book “Hit Refresh – The Quest to Rediscover Microsoft’s Soul and Imagine a Better Future for Everyone,” in which he explores how new technologies will impact society and shares what he has learned after more than 20 years at Microsoft.

Bob Metcalfe is Professor of Innovation and Murchison Fellow of Free Enterprise at the Cockrell School of Engineering and McCombs School of Business. The inventor of Ethernet, he leads multiple efforts across the university to help professors and students transform their ideas and discoveries into innovations that will impact the world and change lives.
