AAAS 2018: Invitation to Journalist Networking Event at the Annual Meeting in Austin

Members of the science press at AAAS 2018 invited to a networking event with UT Austin scientists and special guest LIGO Executive Director David Reitze.

If you are attending the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) annual meeting in Austin this week, you’re invited to this event. No RSVP required.

EVENT: Wine-and-cheese networking reception for science journalists at the AAAS 2018 meeting with science researchers from The University of Texas at Austin and special guest LIGO Executive Director David Reitze.

WHERE: Austin Convention Center, 500 E. Cesar Chavez St, Austin, TX 78701 – Level 3, Room 7 in the newsroom coffee area.

TIME: 4:00-5:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 15.

WHO CAN ATTEND: All journalists and science writers attending AAAS 2018 are invited.

BACKGROUND: This event at the annual meeting of the AAAS will allow reporters to network with each other in a relaxed atmosphere while meeting top experts from UT Austin in a range of fields including astrophysics, energy and environmental research, biomedical science, technology, engineering, and other disciplines. Reitze, an alumnus of UT Austin involved in the discovery of gravitational waves, will attend as a special guest.
