WHAT: Aspiring undergraduate student entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas before celebrity startup experts, local venture capitalists and community members as they compete for a $25,000 investment prize and the chance to continue their business after graduation. This year’s special guests will be Mark McClain, CEO of SailPoint; Tim Ferriss, author of “The 4-Hour Workweek”; and Bob Metcalfe, inventor of Ethernet and a professor of innovation and entrepreneurship at The University of Texas at Austin.

BACKGROUND: Participating students are members of the Longhorn Startup Lab. Students from computer science, business, communications and other majors form teams and create a technology startup as part of the class. Longhorn Startup Demo Day is the culmination of the students’ spring semester lab.
