Physics and mathematics major William Berdanier has been selected as a Marshall Scholar for 2013 and intends to earn two master’s degrees at Cambridge University through the scholarship. Berdanier is one of 34 scholars from across the nation awarded the scholarship.

Bill Powers, president of The University of Texas at Austin, has been named recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Citizen Award by the Capitol Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. he award recognizes Powers for having taken on leadership roles in education and civic service that resulted in expanding opportunity and understanding.
