The following is a statement from UT Austin President Designee Gregory L. Fenves.

In honor of things not going according to plan, here are some thoughts on the value of failure, brought to you by the wise words of speakers — all UT alumni — from commencement ceremonies that actually happened.

Students, faculty, family and friends enjoyed college and school convocations before the storms hit. And even though the university-wide ceremony was canceled, the celebration went on.

The 2015 university-wide Commencement ceremony has been canceled due to inclement weather and nearby lightning. We share in your disappointment and congratulate our graduates on their many accomplishments.

Darren Walker, a Texas Ex and president of the Ford Foundation, will deliver the keynote address during the 2015 spring commencement ceremony at UT Austin on May 23.

UT Austin is welcoming the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) back to campus, where it was founded and operated for 108 years, to support the teaching and preservation of Texas history.
